About Jim Pruitt was born in 1958. He became a Christian at the age of thirteen and took up the bass guitar about the same time. In the 70s and 80s he toured with different Christian bands across the United States and Canada as well as appearing on Christian television shows such as The 700 Club and 100 West Huntley Street. In his twenties and thirties, he lost faith and considered himself an agnostic. He dropped out of college (where his favorite classes were literature and philosophy) and went through several career changes including a brief stint in the US Navy in their nuclear power program. He accidentally developed a career in IT and soon focused in on internet development. He quickly achieved a measure of success and it was during this time that he began to write white papers for the industry. As a hobby, he would also write philosophical rants on his website bemoaning the vanity of life. When the internet bubble burst, his career imploded along with his personal and family life. Then 9/11 happened. The convergence of all of these events caused Jim to reevaluate his life and his relationship with God. In his debates online with Muslims concerning 9/11 and Christianity, he soon was surprised to discover that he still believed. God used those events to bring him to his knees and restore his faith. He rediscovered his love of Christian music and began to get involved with it again. However, much had changed in Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) and he had no desire to repeat his previous mistakes. His wrestling with these issues gave birth to his first book “Contemporary Christian Musician’s Survival Manual” in 2003. However, Jim was grieved to discover that CCM now seemed more concerned with “making it” and “feeling good” than ministry. After years of calling for repentance within CCM, he felt God calling him to move on and focus on “seeking to change the world and the church by calling for an uncompromising submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the authority of His Word.” Over the years, he has continued to write and post articles on his website concerning a variety of topics based on a Biblical perspective.
