<description>I just finished watching "The Cross" and I'm not sure what I feel. Maybe it's just me, but I feel sort of numb and sad. It's a weird mixture of emotions sort of like spaghetti with grape jelly sauce. Is this the old cross?

<description>A movie has been made about Arthur Blessitt who physically carried a cross into every nation on the face of the earth. I have admired God's work through him all of my Christian life. I have a great respect for him and I look forward to seeing the film. But I fear that the merchants of the "prosperity gospel" may be getting to him...

    <link>http://www.cyshift.com/naked.html</link>
<description>This week I was drawn to the cover of one of our local magazines. The cover showed a naked man and woman with their backs to the camera and all of the sensitive parts covered with the blaring title "XXX Church - GETS NAKED" (I'm substituting XXX for the name of the church...I don't want to give them any more publicity than I have to).

    <title>Secret Missionaries Redux</title>
    <link>http://www.cyshift.com/secret2.html</link>
<description>Recently, I once again found myself grieved beyond words as I sat and listened to a missionary in an Islamic country who has no intention of ever directly preaching the gospel there make fun of people who do from the pulpit. How did we ever get to the place where we support missionaries all over the world who never preach the gospel?

    <link>http://www.cyshift.com/gaza.html</link>
<description>Over the last few years, Israel has pursued the unbiblical policy of giving away parcels of the land that God had declared His own and which He had reserved for the Jews to the Palestinians in exchange for peace. The arrangement has basically been "we'll give you a place to live and govern yourselves and we hope you'll stop trying to drive us into the sea." This "land for peace" policy has definitely failed.

<title>unChristian:What A New Generation Really Thinks About Christianity And Why It Matters</title>
    <link>http://www.cyshift.com/unchristian.html</link>
<description>This book is currently number 35 on the list of best selling books for the Association for Christian Retail and climbing. It is being hailed around the country as the definitive work describing the state of Christianity today and how to fix it. But is it an attempt at honest self-examination with sound doctrinal solutions or is it a misdiagnosis of the disease (and consequently the treatment needed) based on symptoms born of the current "good is evil, evil is good" "blame everything Western" mindset?

But I think I may have stumbled upon part of the answer: Mark Heard.

    <title>Christianitys Fatal Flaw</title>
    <link>http://www.cyshift.com/fatalflaw.html</link>
<description>"Prove it!" Its been the coupe de grace used for centuries by people who dont believe in Christ to destroy many a Christians witness. Usually, we just put our tails between our legs and crawl away wrestling with our own unanswered questions and doubt. Yes, it seems to be Christianitys fatal flaw that the omnipotent omnipresent omniscient God of the Universe left us without the ability to scientifically prove that He and His Son exist. Why would He do that? Is it some kind of cosmic joke? Or is it that they never existed in the first place?
The fact is that it is no oversight on Gods part. No "Achilles heel" in our theology. It is a central part of Gods design. He did it for a reason!

    <title>The Surrender of the West</title>
    <link>http://www.cyshift.com/surrender.html</link>
<description>The surrender of the West has begun. We have abandoned our Christian roots and in the name of tolerance and diversity allowed the very fabric of our society to become a caldron of the vilest and most perverse. The church has become an irrelevant caricature indistinguishable from any other religious institution. We seek to fight a "civilized" war against an enemy who wears no uniform, abides by no rules, does not value his own life, pursues his goals under the freedom of religion, operates in every country in the world, and who seeks our complete destruction. We limit our options in this war in order to try and placate the liberal segment of our society and that of the rest of the world. And our most effective opponent in this war now appears to be our own Congress. We even have the head of the Senate telling the world the war is lost! And the representative of the United States to the United Nations (i.e., the person responsible for protecting our interests in the world arena) is a Muslim. Does that pretty much sum it up?

<title>Homosexuality and Christianity: Review of a Joe Dallas Seminar</title>
    <link>http://www.cyshift.com/joedallas.html</link>
<description>I applaud my churchs courage in inviting Joe Dallas (http://www.joedallas.com/) to discuss with us his views on how the church today should respond to the growing influence of homosexuality on our culture. It is a highly controversial topic and one which I feel strongly about but doctrines vary widely. So I looked forward to hearing him with a mix of fear and anticipation. Fear that it might be just another wishy-washy example of Peter Pan theology ("just keep your happy thoughts") but hopeful anticipation that maybe he might bring something of substance.

<title>God's Guidance Doesn't Require That We Be Perfect</title>
    <link>http://www.cyshift.com/guidance.html</link>
<description>As suggested in the movie Luther, "we preach best what we need to learn most." Perhaps you have struggled with the same paradox that I have. I've always known that God's Word is replete with promises to guide us. But I've also known that God requires us to listen for His voice, trust Him, and be obedient for His guidance to be effective. However, I've had a bit of an epiphany lately.
